Yak means "Yakovlev" in memory of Alexander Sergeyevich Yakovlev, Soviet engineer founded the design bureau by which this plane is produced.

...and, yes, you may rhyme it with yuck or even fuck - we absolutely don't care for it. There is dozens other countries in the World except America, where customers are more clever to not use such stupid teenage quibbles.
